Almond drink(Badam milk)

Almonds are good source of Vitamin E and mono saturated fat.This mono saturated fat is one of the two good fats which lowers LDL Cholesterol.Here is a recipe for almond milk which you can serve for your guest as a dessert.

                    
                                 

Ingredients needed:

1 Cup Almonds
6 1/2 Cups Milk
Few Strings of saffron(Optional)
Few pistachios Chopped(Optional)

Method:

Soak almonds in warm water for 2 hours.Peel off their skin.Put these almonds in a mixie or blender and first grind these almonds alone for few minutes, then add about 1 cup milk and grind together so that all almonds are grinded together.In the mean time start to boil the 6 cup milk in a heavy bottom pan, after 5 to 6 minutes, add these grinded almond paste into the boiling milk and simmer the stove.Allow it to cook for about 25 to 30 minutes in low flame, stirring occasionally to ensure that the bottom is not getting burnt.In the midst of this 30 minutes, in about 1 tablespoon of warm milk , add the saffron strings and smash them so that they give out color, now pour this saffron mix into the almond milk and stir well.Allow it to cool down and refrigerate for 2 or 3 hours before serving.While serving , pour this into the cup and add some chopped pistachios to that on top.We used 6 1/2 Cups milk, but only about 5 to 51/2 cups will be left to serve, since we boil the milk for 30 mins.So plan in accordance and use the milk quantity.

Graco Luv n Hug swing

Usually before I buy a product be it be 10$ or 1000$ I go about the reviews, but one thing I bought with a average review or to say with poor comments is Graco Luv n Hug swing . I wanted a swing which is a plug in swing so that I can avoid changing batteries often , this was the one I found but for 130$ the review was average with comments like it won t work after a month or so . But I found it for 130$ with a 10% off+ 20% off with free shipping to home in babiesRus,Could I ask more ? I thought if its not functioning properly I can always return.So far I have been using this since my son was 2 months old so far so good , (now he is 7 months)also to mention that we don t use the swing daily .I have also heard that grace sends a spare motor if you have issues with the motor of swing provided you are in the warranty period. Now with the usage first I thought its a waste of money but when I need my time of the day I put him in the swing to fall asleep which he will not if I put him in his crib or I rock him.And it does helps when he was suffering with cold.In the past week I am totally relying on the swing for his naps.The only drawback I would say is that the fabric kind of makes him sweaty so I usally put a gerber brand flat on that part of fabric where is head rests.And yes more than my son, my 31/2 year old daughter has used that a lot to swing by herself without the motor's help and she loves to do that even though we have told her not to do that.

Diaper sprayer

This cloth diaper accesory is a MUST for handwashing mamas like me.The sprayer just cleans the poop in a breeze.I was giving a second thought in buying a sprayer until after a month of cloth diapering because all the brands of sprayers that I knew of ,was 40$ or so, so I did a small googling (as always) and found the sigma sparyer as the cheapest .I ordered  them from my favourite store(Sweet bottoms baby boutique) and got them in 3 days, from then its always been easy for me to wash my son's poopy diapers.And yes there is a con in using the sprayer, you have to be careful with the force of water, the water needs to be forceful to clean the diapers, but this force would make it splash everywhere out of the toilet, so hold the dirty diapers tight in one hand and use pressure accordingly, you can always use a disinfectant wipe or spray in the bathroom floor once done.With this said I like my sprayer a lot and my 3 and half year old really enjoys playing with it :(

Zumba

I am going back to gym say after 5 months, my last visit was in January.Now I have really turned into a couch potota with a excuse tha I am tired looking after two kids.Wanted to burn some calories and explore the new(to me) form of group excerise , yes its Zumba.Today is the first day and for first 5 minutes in the class, I could not stop myslef from laughing, mirrors infront of you, instructor with a mike and seeing all these I was laughing and felt like I will not be able to do it, but then today I managed for 30 minutes.I go to the Y, YMCA, its fantastic , there are lots of activities going on through out the year or adults and kids.Per month its 60$ for a family with free day care for your kids for 2 hours a day while you are in the Y.Thats nice right?Well my son did well in the day care and he had fun watching kids around.I am thinking of going to Zumba on 2 days and yoga on 2 days.

What was your experience going to the gym after delivey? After how many months you started work outs and how did your child take it up?

Wolby bug one size covers

When it comes to diaper covers, I prefer one size covers as I do not want to spend as and when the baby grows.I discovered flip covers but they had their own drawback of the prefold/flat folding or bunching up at the back, but I was very much happy and cotended with those.I had 3 solid color flip covers ,it was by then I came to know about wolby bug diaper covers from Julie's review ,considering the price,I thought I will give them a try, Wow, I wish I knew them earlier.I have two of wolby bug, cow print and black color.Not many diapers or diaper covers come in balck color .These covers are awesome and are my go to covers because I can use them on a prefold without snappi and be doubtless about their leak proof and holding capacity.My son is EBF and I need not tell you ladies about the poopy suprises , but these covers hold them really good on a pad folded green mountain red edge prefold.My only suggestion (come on we ladies won t be satisfied with anything , we keep on improving) would be the velcro option because my stash is full of snapped one size pockets and covers.To know where and the deal at which I bought these check out my deal or steal post here.Overall its one of the MUST HAVE diaper cover for a prefold /flat using mama

My Wet bag

We all know that wet bag is an important accessory for cloth diapering,I realised this only after a month of cloth diapering.Earlier I used to store the wet diapers in a basket and soiled dipaers in another basket in the bathrroom.Sounds crazy right?? .Then I thought wheather to buy a pail or wet bag?.Well, I opted wet bag for reasons.
1.I also have another child who is 3 years old, I am very sure about her curiousity when I have a trash can with a cover and diapers inside it.I can assure that she will open everytime she sees that.
2.A wet bag does not even tell my guests that it has got used dipaers in it.
3.Reusage.What will I do with the pail container once I am  done with cloth dipaering?,use it has a trash can ? I alreday have 1 tall trash can and 2 small ones.If its a wet bag, after
clothdiapering I have two options, one I can sell them , donate them or whatever, second I can use it for swim dress.
So I opted for a zippered wet bag and was about to purchase planet wise or Kissalauvs, but then I googled for "cheap wet bags" and I found about dipaer palz and I bought one small travel wet bag and one large bag to try , the ladies in diaper palz usually do a monthly deal like 50% off any one or two specific colors, that month when I ordered(June 2012) it was purple and blue.I bought purple ones and both cost me around 16$ including tax and shipping.I got them in a week and was surprised , they looked as good quality ones, I have never used any other brands before but this looked good, so the next week I ordered 1 travel and 1 large in blue color , this time I found a coupon code that was given to a blogger to share with her readers.I also came to know about the cheap alva baby ones, so I bought two travel sizes in those , they were like 6$ each.So I have 2 large and 4 travel bags.I am planning on using one of the travel bags to put on swim clothes.

Deal or a Steal?

Cloth diapering saves money but it would save more if you buy them in deals.Yesterday  I just came across cloth diaper outlet's deals, wow its awesome.Actually I was looking to buy  wolbybug covers  after reading its review in Julie's blog, but I  could not find  a retailer,so I left a comment in My Clothdiaper stash asking her where I can buy them, she was so happy to  share a code wolbyfree to use in mycloth diaper outlet .Yes wolbyfree is  you get  a free wolbybugcover when you purchase above 25$.I bought grovia shells and  one wolbybug cover in cow prints,I will be getting a free wolby cover worth 10$  in black colour.Yes ladies look out for deals when you buy cloth diaper, it would be a steal.

What it takes to cloth diaper in a apartment

I want this post to let all know that  what it takes to cloth diaper without washer and dryer.Who knows one day or the other my daughter would read this and be determined to cloth diaper my grandchildren.First is determination,be strong in your decision of cloth diapering, yes it takes your time but then your little ones skin is saved.As of now the only 2 good things that I m doing to my son to my knowledge is cloth diapering and breast feeding.Second for handwashing prefods and flats are The BEST option.Well we are all tempted with the fancy pockets, AIOs,fitted etc., etc., etc....... but they all take time to dry, believe me the pocket inserts take 2 days to dry when hangdry inside the apartment on the shades of sun(It is on average 80 degrees out here), instead you can buy covers with fun prints, I like flip covers than the thirsties, now after reading a post on Julie's blog about wolbybug covers, I very much wanted to try them.Flats dry faster than prefolds,my walmart flour sacks get to dry in at a maximmum of 4 hours when hanged inside the apartment cloths line.You will need a diaper sprayer .At first I thought diaper sprayer would be a added expense but my work of cleaning the poopy diapers is a breeze now.I wash soiled diapers daily and just wet ones once in 1.5 days,so I use a wet bag to store those diapers.Stains on your diapers while breast feeding is not a surprise , after using the sprayer just spray bac out biokleen on the fabric where strains are there.Once washing is done use a cloth stand or clothsline to dry them , you can get one from walmart for 20$ or so.Above all ,have enough diapers in your stash, all days are not the same with baby ,one day he might be more generous in giving surprises in his diapers , other days mom might be busy , so have enough or more than enough of diapers and covers .Do not feel shy to use cloth diapers when out and about or at a friend's place , I say this because one day my dear husband told me that "I appreciate you using cloth diapers at home, but why don t we use disposable while going out or atleast use disposable wipes when going out,people might think that I am very stingy not buying even wipes for my son".Then I explained him and made clear that he was wrong, I use what I feel is good for my son, so there is no thoughts of what others think.

My wash routine

Hmmm the biggest challenge for me is washing.I live in a apartment and I cannot use the shared laundry for 3 main reasons. One the cost , second people around will not accept it, third I feel its not hygenic , of course i do wash my children's clothing there but still I am not ok with cloth diapers .There are other options like diaper service but again the cost.So I hand wash them.First I clean off the poop by holding the dirty diaper in toilet bowl and pour water on the diaper with a cup until all the poops fall off, this is THE CHALLENGING AND HAND PAINING task, then I rub the soiled part with the excess fabric in cloth diapers , so the left over dirt goes off, then I soak all wet diapers in a bucket water with bum genius detergent for 15 minutes at the minimum, then just agitate each cloth diaper in hand just by taking the cloth and pounding it in tub,rinse each of them individually ,then a hot rinse ,then a cold rinse, then a final rinse with a spoonful of Dettol , yes the magic.I buy Dettol usuall from Indian stores here.Using dettol in the final rinse is one of the habits I follow right from India ,it gives a good smell (I like the smell ),also a antiseptic so I like using it.Then after the final rinse I wring it and hang it in my cloths line which I keep inside my house right infront of the balcony ,so the rest SUN does. I do this washing twice a day one in afternoon , one in night excluding the soaking time it takes around 15 minutes for a wash.It is a hectic process , but now after reading about flat challenge in Julie 's blog, I think a plunger would be easy.Lets see how it works . Guess what I did first with my Samsung Tablet

Yesterday my  husband bought me a gift.He said its a samsung tablet,I was so excited to
open it but then the kids........after they slept one after other it was 10 pm,then I had my son's cloth diapers to be washed,cleaned up the kitchen and then came the time.I liked it very much but before exploring the feature I first visited myclothdiaperstash ,Julie's blog......My husband would have thought me crazy.My laptop crashed a few days ago ,it was by then I visited her blog.(She is also one of the reasons to start this blog).So those few days without laptop I was desperate without reading or to say researching about cloth diapers so the first thing that came to my mind having a tablet in hand was going back to my reading.


And today morning I woke up early finished my household chores just to update my newly started blog with my new tablet

Cloth diapering..

Yes my first and foremost post is going to be about cloth diapers.I am cloth diapering with my second child (boy).I was in India when I delivered my daughter. There it's more of a custom to use cloth diapers and wash them by hand but when I came here when my daughter was 5.5 months old I was helpless not knowing about the cloth diapers so I ended up on disposables.But when I started browsing about cloth diaper for my son I was surprised and excited to try them . So my first purchase was Thirsties duo wrap blue color from amazon. Again silly me did not have time to go through YouTube to figure out how to get tight fit with the snaps , I was just wrapping him with the cover inside a Gerber cloth diaper .Then after a week's use I figured out how to do that.Then went on reading reviews and doing some research and bought bum genius pocket with snaps the ribbit color. I started loving those , so in night times and occasionally DS was in disposables .It was by then I remember having a coupon of 5 $ off in a cloth diaper store nearby ( baby junk )which I got somewhere when I was pregnant . So I bought 8 osocozy premium prefolds, Thirsties duo wrap with Velcro , bum genius elemental with Velcro , econobum one size cover ,charlie banana one size pocket.( I had 3 coupons so managed 15$ off totally. After a couple of days again I ordered fuzzi buns one size and bum genius butternut with Velcro from amazon along with snappies . At this point I was watching stash videos and reading blogs about cloth diaper which helped me find sweetbottoms baby boutique ,I was happy with free shipping option and free samples so I ordered kawaii night time pocket and then used the buy 5 get one bum genius sale and bought 6 bum genius pockets with snaps and kawaii fun prints.I also came across cotton babies from which i bought bum genius detergent which I do not like.Now my biggest challenge being in a apartment is washing which I will cover up in another post. And yes Iam cloth diapering my son to save his butt and my husband's pocket .
